Bits Jumping

What is Dog Agility? How do I get to play?

Dog agility is a timed obstacle course for a team that consists of a handler (that’s you!) and a dog. The handler directs the dog through a predetermined pattern of obstacles. A course usually has 12-18 obstacles, like tunnels, jumps, tire jumps, weave poles, and the big “ramp” obstacles (teeter, dog walk & A-Frame). In a trial / formal competition, the dog runs the course off-leash, without food or toys and the handler can’t touch the dog. The human half of the team relies on movement, hand and body signals and their voice, to tell the canine half what to do next.

All the details on how to sign up for UKI can be found here. You and your dog(s) need to register at UKI International to play. They have some really neat options – grandfathered into your current competing level – great jump heights – just to mention a few!
